Hottest Forum Topics

What kind of topic do you think attract the most members? I'm going to stick with 2 genres of sites:

1. Free Advertisement sites! :) There's nothing better than being able to spam your link on another site and getting members and posts on your own forum!
2. Movies/Games/Music. Everyone loves these. Its a very specific category but it branches off into thousands of sub-topics. Genre, year, artist/director, albums and actors. Its great!

What do you all think?

Well 1. on that list pretty much tops everything, IMO. Soooo many advertising/resource forums out there.

Fan sites usually work well. not only do they generally have lots of members, but they tend to be more active than advertising forums, etc. i guess it depends on where you want your forum to go.

Advertising forums do get a lot of members, but not necesarily a large amount of posts...

Well, I've found members will sometimes sign up, post the minimum posts required to post their ad, and then never return. I take extra effort to keep members interested with regular newsletter updates and new games, etc.

I meant the massive sites with 1000's of links
