What's your favorite sci-fi and the story behind why you love it?

My most memorable sci-fi film/series/books/etc is going to have to be Star Wars. When I first saw the Special Edition in the UK in 1997 (first day release) I remember sitting and watching as the Star Destroyer continued its seemingly endless flyover. As I watched the films over and over, I took note on how they were made. By the 11th grade, I went to UVa to study and work on Maya 6 (then 7 upon its release) and integrating Photoshop and 3d-graphics into movies. I'm hooked. Who cares if Jar Jar didnt die or Dark Vader kinda screamed like a kid during a temper tantrum?!? I still love it! hah

I'd have to say my Fav is Star Trek. I've watched all the series, movies. (I've seen almost every eppisode ever aired) It was something my parents alwas loved and as I got older I began to get interested in it too. My dad had all the TNG eppisodes on recorded tape, every night I'd watch at least one before going to bed. Right now I'm watching TOS, and eagerly waiting on the movie!

What about the Inner Core planets? The Black Sun organization, the outer Rim smugglers net or the New (or Old) Bounty Hunter's Guild?

True... I think that probably Star Wars would beat Star Trek. Its just two different universes and the one was disigned to be more powerful.. Thats just the way it is unfortunately.

Hah, this could go in its own forum! scfi-battle.com haha. Trek and Wars both have their advantages and disadvantages. Star Trek has different light-speeds..Star Wars just has one.
